On 26 August, the successful breakthrough of the Gaoliangxiang Tunnel, a hub project of Chongqing-Wanzhou High Speed Railway, marked the full completion of all tunnels on the railway. The main line extends 251 kilometers with a design speed of 350 km/h. Once operational, it will significantly improve connectivity between the urban cluster in the Three Gorges Reservoir area of northeast Chongqing and the metropolitan area of the main city.
